Domestic fire risk assessments 

Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 landlords are required to have conducted a fire risk assessment on their properties. This must be conducted by a 'competent person' with adequate training and or experience.

Our in-house fire risk assessor has nearly a decade's experience in enforcing fire safety standards within the private rental sector and has specialised in Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) for just as long.

Our fire risk assessments take on the principles of the Housing Health & Safety Rating System (HHSRS), the numerical risk assessment used by local authorities when determining whether or not a hazard exists within a domestic setting.

This is supported by the current fire safety guidance issued by Lacors in 2008. This document is widely used by Local Authorities when drafting schedules of work for fire safety.
